The Labor movement was a hard won struggle that changed America. On every Labor Day those who led the struggle should be honored. One in particular deserves a special honor, Frances Perkins. Michael Patrick taught at the University of Missouri-Rolla and the University of South Alabama for a total of 39 years He was elected President of the Missouri Folklore Society for three terms, a Consultant at the University of Mississippi Center for Southern Studies, and a Fellow at the University of North Carolina Center for the Southern Novel. He has published three books, The Black West in Story and Song, We Are a Part of History, and Orphan Trains to Missouri.
