Rev. Tonny Algood - The Religion of Empire (Battle for the Bible)
Looking at the Christian bible and the religion that has grown around it, there is a tension between the teachings of the gospel as recorded therein and the religion of empire that has grown around those teachings.
Rev. Tonny Algood is a former Union Organizer. He has previously acted as Union Officer, Director of Mobile Bar Association Volunteer Attorney Program, and Staff Attorney with Legal Services. He is presently Minister with the Freedom Church of the Poor, one of the Tri-chairs for Alabama Poor People's Campaign - A National Call for Moral Revival, on the Executive Committee for The National Union of the Homeless, part of the Leadershiip Committee for the Mobile Hub of Faith in Action Alabama, and on the Executive Committee of NAACP Branch 5044-B.
