Kimberly Pettway - The Creation Of Race And The Re-Creation Of Racial Ideologies In America

Scholar and activist Kimberly Pettway will lead us in an exploration of the ideologies that led to the social construction of race and the legacies left behind. Additionally we will explore why we continue to recreate racial narratives despite knowing that these concepts are a fallacy. As one author so eloquently stated, the creation of race is the greatest scam in American history.

Kimberly Pettway is a Social Work instructor at the University of South Alabama as well as a seasoned activist and independent consultant specializing in issues surrounding equity and the dismantling of the racial narratives in America. Pettway believes there are many facets to promoting and maintaining equity within our community, the first of which is awareness.
