Megan Harden & Alex Pikul - Kindness is a Chain Reaction

When Megan Harden and Alex Pikup outlined their plans for what would become Kind Cafe, a local Fairhope Coffee and Bagel shop, they knew that kindness had to be core to their mission. Kindness is a chain reaction and has been shown to increase self-esteem, empathy, and mood. It stimulates the production of serotonin, leading people to a longer healthier life. Their goal is to start each morning with kindness and be an example of the way that small kind moments can make a big difference.

Cousins Megan Harden & Alex Pikup grew up in Baldwin County and were always close. After college, Megan moved to Colorado to teach eighth-grade English and Alex worked in software sales in Texas. But in 2020, each of them made the decision to return to move back home, and together they started brainstorming about the possibility of opening what eventually became Kind Cafe in Fairhope.
