July 28th: Shalela Dowdy The work of Mobile Baykeeper

Mobile Baykeeper works to preserve and revive the waters in the Rivers, Delta and Bay around us. Shalela Dowdy will give a presentation on the work that Mobile Baykeeper is involved in and provide the audience with ways to get involved in Environmental Justice issues in our bay area community.

 

Shalela Dowdy is a Mobilian. She has a B.Sc.in Legal Studies (Pre Law) from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2012 and a M.A. in Leadership Studies from Univ. of Texas at El Paso in 2017. She is now a Law Student at Southern Univ. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She served 6 years in the U.S Army on active duty and now serves as a Major in the Army Reserves. She is a member of the NAACP, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and the Founding President of Stand Up Mobile. She is now a Community Organizer for Mobile Baykeeper.
