In just five years, Prism United is now one of the most robust LGBTQ+ organizations in
southwest Alabama, bringing support groups, special events, referrals, and cultural
competency training to Mobile and Baldwin County. On February 11th, Prism’s co-
founder and executive director Corey Harvard will speak to the Fairhope Unitarian
Fellowship about the struggles of LGBTQ+ youth in southwest Alabama, the work and
trajectory of Prism United, and the transformative possibilities of belonging.
Corey Harvard is a poet and singer-songwriter from Grand Bay, Alabama. He is a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee and a regular coach for Poetry Out Loud. In 2018, he co-founded Prism United to respond to the needs
of LGBTQ+ youth in S.W. Alabama.
